Market Snapshot
The US dollar heads into the biggest day of central-bank week at a two-week high. Investing.com reports the dollar index climbed 0.4% to 102.37 on Tuesday, helped by a risk-on rebound in AI stocks on Wall Street and a weaker euro. Today brings Australian Q3 CPI, the RBNZ, the UK Budget and the Bank of Canada, with the Fed decision landing at 2:00 AM on Thursday (Malaysia time).
Session Recap (27 Oct)
- Euro the weakest major again: EUR/USD fell 0.5% to 1.1122, a near two-week low and down about 1.5% in October (Investing.com). ActionForex says France’s 10-year yield rose 5.2bps to 4.955% while Bund yields fell, widening the OAT–Bund spread from about 153bps to 162bps and reversing more than half of Monday’s post-Moody’s relief (ActionForex).
- Kiwi, Aussie and dollar led the majors higher, according to ActionForex.
- Yen softer: USD/JPY rose to 157.96 as last week’s safe-haven demand faded (Investing.com).

Major Pairs – Technical View
US Dollar Index (DXY): FXDailyReport says the index is extending its bullish move, targeting the 103.00–103.74 resistance zone, with pullbacks expected to find support near 101.79 (FXDailyReport).
EUR/USD: Bearish below 1.1185. FXDailyReport watches 1.1120 support, with a decisive break opening 1.1000. FXEmpire sees support at 1.1110–1.1115 if the pair settles below 1.1150, with resistance at 1.1175–1.1190 (FXEmpire). ActionForex expects further decline while 1.1276 resistance holds; below 1.1111 targets the 1.0904 Fibonacci level (ActionForex).
GBP/USD: FXDailyReport has support at 1.3300 and 1.3250 (a loss of 1.3250 opens 1.3125), resistance at 1.3450 and 1.3600. ActionForex is neutral: further rise is favoured while 1.3294 holds, and above 1.3418 targets 1.3469; a firm break of 1.3294 turns the bias back down toward 1.3135 (ActionForex).
USD/JPY: FXEmpire says the pair needs to settle above the 158.00–158.50 resistance to aim for 160.00–160.50. ActionForex is neutral in a range: a break of 156.06 points back to 152.87, while above 159.02 targets 160.38 (ActionForex). FXDailyReport still leans bearish below 158.89, with support at 155.50 and 154.00.
AUD/USD: ActionForex turned neutral: a sustained break of 0.7024 targets 0.7106, while a break of 0.6968 brings a retest of 0.6893 (ActionForex). FXDailyReport lists support at 0.7000 and 0.6820, resistance at 0.7160. Today’s CPI is the decider.
USD/CAD: ActionForex turned neutral with the recovery. A sustained break of 1.3986 extends the fall toward 1.3792, while above 1.4080 turns the bias back up (ActionForex).
USD/CHF: ActionForex says the break of 0.8269 resistance suggests the pullback from 0.8394 ended at 0.8190, turning the intraday bias to the upside. Below 0.8190 would target 0.8092 (ActionForex).
Gold (XAU/USD)
Gold bounced firmly off the $4,000 psychological support. FXDailyReport sees room for a retest of $4,110–$4,170, now major resistance, but keeps the broader structure bearish; a break below $4,000 reopens $3,834 (FXDailyReport). FXEmpire says a settle above $4,050 points to $4,100, then $4,160–$4,180. It also notes that FedWatch puts about 73% odds on a December Fed hike, which remains the main downside risk for gold.

Outlook
Expect a volatile day across every time zone. ActionForex notes markets price about 62% odds of an RBA hike on 3 November, so the services and trimmed-mean detail in this morning’s CPI matters most for the Aussie, with the RBNZ decision 30 minutes later making AUD/NZD especially sensitive. In the evening, the UK Budget is a test of fiscal credibility for sterling, followed by a BoC decision where a hike is widely expected. The Fed is priced around 90% to hold, so its guidance on a December hike is the real risk for the dollar and gold. The euro stays vulnerable while French spreads keep widening.
